Cisco VNI Global Mobile Data Forecast Reveals Trends
Cisco has made its annual VNI Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast, which covers the period 2014 - 2019. The forecast is a study partner to complete VNI Global IP Traffic Forecast 2013-2018 published last prediction revealed that the mobile phone in June .The data traffic last year was almost 30 times the size of the entire global Internet in 2000. Another milestone in 2014: the number of mobile devices connected to the world population passed late last year.
Mobile video traffic, which exceeded the mobile data traffic in 2012, has grown to 55% of total mobile traffic in 2014 at the end of 2014. The video almost three quarters are represented parts of mobile data traffic across the world by 2019, according to the study. Internet traffic, traffic data and VoIP traffic will account for just under one quarter of global mobile traffic in 2019, with file sharing and streaming audio that make other traffic according to the classification of applications.
Wi-Fi plays an increasingly important role in the availability of mobile data: more traffic can be downloaded from cellular networks (Wi-Fi), which remains in cellular networks by 2016. The study also states that the voice on Wi-Fi exceed voice over LTE (VoLTE) in 2018, as measured per minute of use. Much of this traffic will be generated by PC vs tablet and mobile devices. VoIP Phones minute usage rate will remain in single digits, capturing 6% of mobile voice minutes in 2019.
Connection speeds continue to increase, especially in the more widely available 4G networks, with the average rate of cell connection 1.7 in 2014 to 4.0 Mbps Mbps 2019.The study also examines the effect of clothing Implications of IPv6, and the amount of traffic that will be generated by different mobile devices.
